Peggie Smith, physician assistant at the Renown Institute for Neurosciences, represented for Neurology on the Hill Nevada in Washington, D.C.

Smith met with Rep. Amodei one-on-one as well as with representatives from Senators Reid, Heller and Rep. Heck’s offices. In 2014, Smith was the first PA to attend the conference and this year, she was once again the only PA invited to the event.

Wende Schwake, heart failure program coordinator with Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health, is the first and only nurse in northern Nevada to achieve certification from the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses. In her daily work with Renown’s new Advanced Heart Failure Program, Schwake educates patients, their families and other nurses about heart failure treatment and assists with a safe transition from hospital to home.
