University of Nevada, Reno ranked in top tier of U.S. universities by U.S. News and World Report

The University of Nevada, Reno has again made the top tier in the annual ranking by U.S. News and World Report.

UNR President Marc Johnson said this is the seventh consecutive year the campus has made the top tier ranking.

The magazine defines schools in the best national universities category as those offering a full range of undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees and placing a strong emphasis on research. The rankings consider among other things faculty resources, student preparedness, alumni giving, reputation and peer assessment.

The same survey also named the engineering college and business school as among the best colleges in the survey of undergraduate programs. The rankings also had praise for the school’s education department, medical school and nursing school.
