Carson City health inspections for June 30, 2017

Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections for June 30. All scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:

Juan’s Mexican Grill, 3680 Goni Road, 94 points. Food wasn’t being cooled rapidly enough to minimize bacterial growth (hot food was being placed directly into the cooler, instead of first in an ice bath or shallow pan). The dishwasher wasn’t working correctly. Due to multiple issues over several inspections, staff is required to maintain a daily sign-off sheet certifying the dishwasher is being checked with appropriate test strips.

Galaxy Fandango, 400 S. Curry St., 87 points. Perishable food was found above 46 degrees — hot dogs and pepperoni held internal temperatures of 52 degrees. The hand-washing sink was being used for food preparation. Spray bottles used on food-contact surfaces didn’t contain adequate sanitizer residual. Food-contact surfaces of equipment and utensils weren’t clean; pink slime was found in both ice machines.

Little Caesars Pizza, 1217 S. Carson St., 79 points. Perishable food was being held above 46 degrees (prepped pizzas held internal temperatures of 72 degrees instead of 41 degrees or below). Also, staff couldn’t identify when pizzas were prepared, so the pizzas were discarded accordingly. The hand-washing sink was being used for food preparation. An employee was eating pizza in the food preparation area. Food-contact surfaces of equipment and utensils weren’t clean. The dough presser was coated in flour. The pizza oven wasn’t being cleaned monthly. The reach-in cooler needed to be cleaned. Single-service utensils were being stored in the bathrooms. The three-basin sink was leaking and needed to be repaired, repeat violation. The floors weren’t clean.
