SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: It’s grad time in the area

The Nevada Appeal’s Silver Dollars & Wooden Nickels feature recognizes achievements from the capital region and, when warranted, points out other acts that missed the mark.

SILVER DOLLAR: To all the local graduates whose hard work has paid off whether it be kindergarten, middle school, high school, Western Nevada College, or local graduates at the four-year or grad school levels, congratulations. And graduates remember to thank all those for making your accomplishment possible from your friends to teachers to parents and family members.

SILVER DOLLAR: On a similar theme, we thank all those who made Safe Grad possible, an important event that provides a fun — and safe — way to celebrate for our graduates.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High track coach Robert Maw and Dayton High track coach Mike Paul, who stepped down from their positions. The two had plenty of success while directing their programs for a long time.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Woody Worthington, president of the Carson and Douglas County Farm Bureau, the Nevada Department of Agricultural and other agencies for coordinating the Ag Day held at Empire Elementary School.
