D1 Training recently opened its first Nevada location in Sparks at 3005 N. McCarran Blvd.

The group fitness facility employs a “sports-science backed training regimen” led by certified trainers; it’s owned and operated by Reno resident, and former elementary and middle school teacher, Jason King, as well as fitness entrepreneur Shaun Wardle, according to a Feb. 3 press release.

This is Wardle’s second facility, with his first in his hometown of Boise, Idaho.

“D1 Training provides a lifestyle change, both mentally and physically, where the team atmosphere helps keep members motivated and challenged,” King said in a statement. “While the treadmill might not care if your there, our team at D1 does. We’re pleased to provide a community that will support and motivate members, as well as give youth athletes a place to learn how to train properly to develop their skills.”

King joins a roster of impressive existing franchisees and owners, some of whom include professional athletes such as Peyton Manning, Von Miller, Chris Paul, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher.

D1 Training - Sparks also offers various program options for different age groups. Each program is based on D1’s “5-Star Training” philosophy incorporating: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength, core and conditioning, and cool down.

“Shaun Wardle and Jason King are the ideal candidates to bring the D1 Training experience to Nevada,” the brand’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Murphy, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to welcome them to the D1 family and are confident in their ability to show the Reno-Sparks area what they’ve been missing out on … Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know they will do just that in Sparks and its surrounding communities.”

D1 Training, founded by former NFL player Will Bartholomew, and based in Nashville, has more than 50 performance centers open with 99 additional locations in development and is seeking community-minded franchisees. Visit
