Fallon-based Frey Ranch Distillery won eight medals — four silver, one gold and three double gold — at this year’s annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The double gold, the competition’s top award, is awarded to entries that receive a gold medal rating by all members of the judging panel “and are considered among the finest products in the world,” according to a May 5 press release.

“We’re incredibly excited and honored to have received awards for all eight of our entries, and I was especially thrilled about the three double gold medals…” Colby Frey, co-founder of Frey Ranch Distillery, said in a statement. “This recognition not only solidifies that we’ve created some tremendous whiskeys but also demonstrates that the people of Nevada are capable of competing on the world stage in both agriculture and whiskey production.”

The distillery’s Single Barrel Bourbon #22 Bourbon, Bottled-in-Bond Rye Whiskey Batch #1 and Single Barrel Bourbon #420 each earned a double gold medal, while Bottled-in-Bond Rye Whiskey Batch #2 earned gold.
