NCET Biz Tips: Why the 17th Annual Small Business Expo is important for Nevada’s entrepreneurs

From Nevada’s beautiful scenic lands to our bustling cities and culture-rich rural towns, there are a lot of reasons I’m proud to call the Silver State home.

I’m also proud that Nevada is consistently rated as one of the best places to start a business, and Northern Nevada is no exception. Nevada’s entrepreneurs pay no corporate income taxes, personal income taxes, franchise taxes or inventory taxes. Add that to our relatively low cost of living and supportive small business ecosystem and the odds continue to be in entrepreneurs’ favor.

New business applications continue to surge across the country – and Nevada leads the way! In 2022, there were 313,000 registered small businesses – a number that represents 99% of all businesses in Nevada and 42% of our state’s workforce.

By supporting Nevada’s entrepreneur ecosystem, we fuel local economies, build strong communities, and create jobs that reflect the culture of the neighborhoods where they are located.

Entrepreneurs who seek knowledge and build their network of trusted advisors are the ones who will survive the challenges of starting and growing a business because these are the two most powerful tools in business.

That’s exactly why I encourage all entrepreneurs to attend the 17^th Annual NCET Small Business Expo happening on September 29. The guidance and information at this event are second to none.

As Nevada’s Lieutenant Governor and former City Councilman in Las Vegas, I continue to be inspired by the small business owners in our state. I’ve seen the courage, resolve, and passion it takes to start a business. However, it can also be frustrating and confusing. About Nevada’s Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony 

Stavros Anthony, a Las Vegas resident for 41 years, made community service and public safety his focus during his time as a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, a member of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, as a City of Las Vegas Councilman and now as Nevada’s Lieutenant Governor.  

He graduated with a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University.  

The Lieutenant Governor presides as President of the Nevada State Senate and serves on the Governor’s Cabinet. In addition, the Lieutenant Governor serves on the following boards and commissions: Commission on Tourism, Advisory Board on Outdoor Recreation, Keep Nevada Working Taskforce, Board of Transportation, Board of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Executive Branch Audit Committee, and Nevada Homeland Security Commission.
