Wood Rodgers, Inc. is thrilled and proud to announce the promotion of 4 employees within the Reno office as of January 1, 2023.

Derek Kirkland

Derek Kirkland, AICP – Partner 

Derek Kirkland has been promoted to Partner and Principal Planner at Wood Rodgers. Derek has over 20 years of combined experience in land development and transportation planning. His unique set of qualifications have developed through his work on a broad range of projects including community master plan projects, residential and commercial site planning and design, land use analysis, parks master plans, city and region wide master plans, bike trail design, as well as leading multi-modal transportation corridor studies, and transportation grant writing and management. In his 11 years at Wood Rodgers, he has helped develop our Transportation Planning Services in Nevada and Northern California and leads the planning efforts for planning projects in Nevada’s rural counties.

Amber Harmon 

Amber Harmon - Associate 

Amber Harmon has been promoted to Associate Senior Marketing Coordinator at Wood Rodgers. Amber has over 25 years of experience in the A/E/C field, with the majority of her years focusing on marketing coordination. In her 20 years with Wood Rodgers, she has worked with multiple departments providing administrative, entitlement and map processing services while also leading the proposal coordination for the Nevada Region.  In 2019 she helped establish Wood Rodgers’ Community Action Program STEAM Team and is the current chair for the program.  Amber also makes a point to be a part of A/E/C organizations such as American Planning Association (APA Northern Section Board Secretary), Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS Director-At-Large) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE Truckee Meadows Branch Newsletter Editor).

Judy Crawford

Judy Crawford – Associate 

Judy Crawford has been promoted to Associate Senior Project Coordinator at Wood Rodgers. Judy has been with Wood Rodgers for almost 11 years; she started as a map processor assisting our engineers and surveyors with map recordings and today, she leads and coordinates permitting of private civil projects in Reno and the surrounding jurisdictions. Judy’s agency knowledge and organizational skills are the backbone of our Land Development projects being completed on time and error free.  She continually pushes forward the Wood Rodgers’ ideal that our quality of work is what keeps our clients coming back to us time and time again.

Jim Koch

Jim Koch, CEM – Associate 

Jim Koch has been promoted to Associate Senior Field Inspector at Wood Rodgers.  Jim has over 30 years’ experience in geotechnical, environmental, geology and construction inspection services, he is a Nevada Certified Environmental Manager, ICC special Inspector and holds ACI, ICC and NAQTC certifications.  Jim’s experience includes both public and private development, including wastewater, aviation and mining construction.  In his 3 years at Wood Rodgers, he has been providing Geotechnical, Environmental Site Assessment, and Construction Management services with a heavy focus on the Carson City area.
