If forecast holds, rain may arrive by Tuesday

If the forecast holds, the first rain since Labor Day weekend may arrive by Tuesday.

Autumn will continue to seem more like summer through this weekend and into the beginning of next week.

Meteorologist Danny Mercer of the National Weather Service said temperatures through the weekend will stay in the upper 70s. The lows will drop to the upper 30s or mid-30s in the coldest places in the valleys.

"We really have no freezing temperatures in the forecast," he said.

However, the trend may not last long.

"We have a cool trough coming by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week," he said.

That front may bring the first chance of rain in Western Nevada since Sept. 2.

According to the Weather Service, there is a chance of showers on Tuesday.

Several outdoor events are scheduled to take advantage of continued good weather.

Among them are this weekend's Pumpkin Patch event at Seeliger Elementary School, the Comstock Craft Fair to benefit the Boys & Girls Club and the Carson City's Library Oktoberfest, which will be in Pony Express Pavilion.
