Obituary: Frederick Kenneth Immoor

A funeral service for Frederick Kenneth Immoor, 74, a Zephyr Cove resident for the past 25 years, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Tahoe Church at Lake Tahoe.

Mr. Immoor died Aug. 12, 2000 at South Lake Tahoe. He was born March 20, 1926, in Englewood, N.J. to Fred and Catherine O'Shea Immoor.

Before moving to Zephyr Cove, he lived in Virginia City.

Mr. Immoor and his wife Dorothy spent 1958-82 restoring the Gold Hill Hotel, one of Nevada's oldest operating hotels. In 1965, they moved to Lake Tahoe where he enjoyed writing, mastering sign language and volunteering.

He assisted in the Outreach Program, Bijou's Elementary Special Ed class and Holly Greenough's class at STMS. In March, the Tahoe Daily Tribune dubbed him a "Professional Grandpa." He loved kids and had a hug for all of them. He was a member of Catholic Christian/Our Lady of Tahoe church.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Among his survivors are his sons, Gregory of Carson City and Terry of Marla Bay; daughter Colleen Hosman of South Lake Tahoe; brother Allen of Irvine, Calif.; sister Joan Collingwood of Reno; five grandchildren and one grandchild.

Burial will be at Genoa Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
