Obituary: Warren Douglas MacCarty

Warren Douglas MacCarty, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 23 years, died Sept. 8, 2000, at Carson Healthcare. He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Joquel, Calif., to Glen S. and Helen A. Stanley MacCarty.

He received his master's degree from San Jose State University. He was a member of the golf team which won the NCAA tournament in 1948 and was installed into the San Jose State University Hall of Fame for Golf.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Oroville, Calif.

Mr. MacCarty was a substitute math teacher in Williams, Calif., an assistant golf pro at Eagle Valley Golf Course and retired after 12 years at the Glenbrook Golf Course. He was a member of the Professional Golfers' Association for 50 years and the Rotary Club of Colusa, Calif. He was a member of the LDS church.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years and was stationed at Hickham Air Force Base, Honolulu as a control tower operator during World War II.

Among his survivors are his wife Barbara J., son David and daughter Susie Bargmann, all of Carson City.

Private inurnment will be held.

Cremation will be at Truckee Meadows Crematory in Sparks.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinsons Disease Association, Inc., any local chapter.

Reno Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, Reno, is in charge of arrangements.
