Kiwanis aid FISH housing project

Kiwanians cleaned and painted the unoccupied half of the club's adopted FISH interim housing duplex in Stewart and repaired the bathroom for their Total K project last weekend

Club president Ron Bowman said, "I am proud of the community spirit of our members volunteering a total of 88 hours for Total K Day. The duplex is almost ready for another interim family."

Kiwanis adopted the duplex in 1991. Interim housing assists homeless families save for rent and utilities in becoming independent of the need for social services.

Total K Day was part of Kiwanis International's effort to have every Kiwanis Club around the world working on a volunteer project in their local community "serving the children of the world."

Down in Carson Valley, 27 Douglas Kiwanians cleaned up a section of Highway 88 and in Dayton, that branch landscaped the Dayton Historic Society Museum.

Carson City Kiwanians will hold their annual luau from 6-11 p.m. March 25 at the Ormsby House.

The luau is the club's largest fund raiser for community projects and CHS scholarships.

Tickets are $30 per person, or $220 for a table of eight. Call Mike Crossley at 882-4459 or Ron Bowman at 883-7341.
