Obituary: Glenn e. Shields

Glenn E. Shields, 82, a Dayton resident for the past 10 years, died Dec. 24, 1999 at his residence.

No services are scheduled.

Mr. Shields was born Jan. 7, 1917 in Bethany, Neb., to Perry Shields Sr. and Jeanne Poffenberger Shields. He was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Shields.

Prior to living in Dayton Mr. Shields resided in Cupertino, Calif. for 34 years.

He retired as superintendent, general construction division, at Pacific Gas and Electric Co. in 1980 after 39 years.

He was a member of Blue Lodge No. 1 Free and Accepted Masons, Carson City, and 32nd Degree Mason, San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies, San Jose, Calif.

Mr. Shields was a World War II veteran, serving as an aviation machinist mate, third class, with the Naval Air Transport Squadron in Pearl Harbor.

Among his survivors are his wife of 56 years, Mina (Taylor) Shields of Dayton; daughters, Vicki Meenen of Rogers, Ark. and Donna Huber of Saratoga, Calif.; son, Barry Shields of Santa Clara, Calif.; brother, Jerry Shields of Mt. Vernon, Wash., 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation is under the direction of Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
