Obituary: Richard Arthur Murray

A funeral for Richard Arthur Murray, 68, a Carson City resident for the past 12 years, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Carson City Masonic Lodge No. 1 F&AM.

Mr. Murray died April 20, 2000, at his home. He was born April 14, 1932, in San Francisco, Calif., to Willard and Thelma Cammack Murray.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Canoga Park, Calif.

Mr. Murray was a free-lance writer whose columns appeared in the Nevada Appeal. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite Bodies, Kerak Temple Shrine and a trustee of the Carson Masonic Lodge No. 1 F&AM. He was an original member of the Main Street Committee in Carson City and a member of the Republican Central Committee. He was also a member of California VFW Post 2805.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54, aboard the destroyer USS O'Brien DD725.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Among his survivors are his wife Marie of Carson City; son Dana A. of Boston, Mass.; daughter April Christi Drinkwater of Boston; sister Linda McGuire of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren and one niece.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
