A memorial service for Dr. Thomas A. McDonald, 52, a Carson City resident for the past year, will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith. A visitation will be from 1-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith with a Rosary following at 5:30.
McDonald died June 4, 2002, in Carson City. He was born July 29, 1949, in Elkhart, Ind., to Lyell J. and Pauline R. WineBrenner McDonald.
He graduated from high school as a salutatorian. He graduated from Purdue University and received his doctorate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Albion, Ind.
He worked for Argonne Laboratories in Argonne, Ill., and was an international expert on nuclear plant safety.
He survived being hit by a drunk driver in 1984 and was cared for by his mother for the past 18 years.
He was a Catholic.
Among his survivors are his mother Pauline R. Billman of Carson City; brothers James G. of Arlington, Va., and David of Reno; sisters Janice Logan of Orland, Ind., and Karen Boman of Carson City and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
