Sentencing report

The following men and woman were sentenced in Carson City District Court:

-- Michael Howard Menke Jr., 21, of Carson City, was sentenced Jan. 21 to five years probation in lieu of 12 to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale Dec. 12. In exchange for his plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped charges of felony trafficking, possession of controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Jay Louis Fehr, 33, of Reno, was sentenced Jan. 21 to five years probation in lieu of 12 to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty Dec. 16 to felony forgery. In exchange for his plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped an additional charge of passing a forged document. Fehr must also pay $1,538 in restitution.

-- Bobby Leroy Westfall, 19, of Carson City, was sentenced Jan. 27 to 18 months probation in lieu of one year in jail after pleading guilty Dec. 12 to gross misdemeanor taking of a motor vehicle. In exchange for the plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped a felony charge of possession of stolen property. Westfall must also pay $670 in restitution.

-- John M. Hull, 20, of Carson City, was sentenced Feb. 3 to two years probation in lieu of six months in jail, after pleading guilty to gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon.

-- Douglas Anthony Poore, a 43-year-old transient, was sentenced Feb. 3 to one year in jail after pleading guilty Dec. 30 to gross misdemeanor taking and driving away in vehicle without owner's consent. In exchange for his plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped charges of felony possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and felon failure to register.

-- Renee Nina Briggs, 37, of Reno, was sentenced Feb. 4 to two years probation in lieu of 12 to 32 months in prison after pleading guilty Dec. 3 to felony possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale. In exchange for the plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped charges of felony trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Briggs must complete 40 hours of community service.

-- Angela Jewel Tucker, 31, of Carson City, was sentenced Feb. 10 to two years probation in lieu of six months jail after pleading guilty to gross misdemeanor attempted theft. In exchange for the plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped a charge of felony embezzlement more than $250 by separate acts within a six-month period. Tucker must also pay $1,266 in restitution.

-- Phillip Douglas Sharpe, 52, was sentenced Feb. 10 to 35 to 156 months in prison after pleading guilty Dec. 16 to felony trafficking. In exchange for the plea, the District Attorney's Office dropped two charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Sharpe failed to appear for his sentencing.
