Obituary: William Thacker

A service for William Alan "Bill" Thacker, 61, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints West Stake Center on North Fifth Street in Elko.

A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Burns Funeral Home in Elko and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mr. Thacker died July 3, 2003. He was born Dec. 31, 1941, in Stewart to Raymond and Irene Andrews Thacker.

He was a lifetime resident of Northern Nevada.

He married Gwen Anne Smith May 2, 1963, and they were sealed in the Boise, Idaho Temple on June 13, 1986.

Mr. Thacker was a longtime rancher, musician, announcer and rodeo rider. He was an avid fan of his family's activities.

He was preceded by his parents and brother, Charles R.

Among his survivors are his wife, Gwen Anne; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Gary Frisch of Melba, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law Phaline A. and John Conklin; daughter Krystal Ray Thacker of Elko; sons and daughters-in-law W. Shane and Bobbi of Lovelock and Corey A. and Jennifer of Elko; grandchildren Toni, Cheyna, Trudie, Morgen, Will, Jacob, Shaylyn, Hattie and Christopher; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
