Obituary: Hazen Fenwick LaDuke

A memorial service for Hazen Fenwick "Bud" LaDuke, 76, of Overton will be at 2 p.m. April 5 at the Logandale Mortuary in Moapa Valley.

Mr. LaDuke died March 10, 2003. He was born June 2, 1926, to William and Edith Hazen LaDuke.

Before moving to Overton, he lived in Carson City for many years. He purchased the historic Orion Clemens home and had it moved to 320 E. Long St.

One of his first jobs was on the Ricci Ranch in Dayton. He worked for D.C. Bath for many years as a Shell Oil deliveryman.

He then went to work as a park interpreter for the Nevada State Park system, becoming a park supervisor. He spent several years at Fort Churchill then transferred to the Valley of Fire in Southern Nevada.

Mr. LaDuke was a Scoutmaster for several years and an active Mason. He enjoyed the outdoors, history and working with the public.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; brother, William; and sister, Audrey LaDuke Peebles.

Among his survivors are his second wife, Vickie of Overton; daughter, Linda Rhodes of Seiad Valley, Calif.; grandson, Robert Rhodes of Las Vegas; uncle, Marlon Hazen of Rochester, N.Y.; niece, Shawna Halverson of Dayton; nephews Paul Peebles of Carson City and Michael LaDuke of Montana; and a great-niece and three great-nephews.
