Elinore Ruth Colgrove

A graveside service for Elinore Ruth Colgrove, 83, a lifetime Carson City resident, will be at noon Monday at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mrs. Colgrove died March 21, 2005, in Reno. She was born June 10, 1921, in Carson City, to Chester John and Irene Marie Walker Newnham. She was a fourth-generation Nevadan and a descendent of John R. Newnham who came to Carson City via wagon train in 1865.

She married Melville R. Colgrove Sept. 6, 1942, in Carson City.

Mrs. Colgrove was a secretary for the National Guard Armory and a secretary for the gaming commission in Carson City. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son Melville Robert Jr., and sister Dorothy Lucille Judd.

Among her survivors are daughter, Linda June Petersen of Sun Valley and son Keith Irwin of Atlanta; brother, Chester M. "Bud" Newnham; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine nieces and two nephews.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Valley Children's Home in Carson City.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
