Inmate serving life dies in Carson City prison

A 44-year-old Clark County man serving life in prison for sex crimes involving a minor has died at the state prison in Carson City.

Nevada Department of Corrections officials say Paul E. Stone died just before 11:40 a.m. Friday in the medical facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.

His body has been turned over to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office coroner, who will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Stone had been imprisoned since his conviction in Carson County in December 2005 for attempted sexual assault of a victim under age 16 and lewdness with a minor.

He was sentenced to life with parole.

His last parole hearing was May 2009.
