Randy Buffington, president and chief executive officer of Allied Nevada Gold Corp. of South Meadows, has been appointed to the board of directors of Rye Patch Gold Corp. of Vancouver as an independent director.
Buffington, who has more than 28 years experience in the mining industry, is currently president and CEO of Allied Nevada. He also worked as senior vice president of operations for Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. and served in management roles for Barrick Gold Corp., including managing director of the Lumwana copper mine in Zambia; general manager of the Goldstrike mine; and general manager of the Ruby Hill and Bald Mountain mines in Nevada. Buffington also worked at Placer Dome Inc.’s Bald Mountain mine, and Cominco American Inc.’s Buckhorn Mine.
He earned a master’s degree in civil engineering.
