Jessie Smith was recently promoted at Opendoor to the role of Northern California’s General Manager, overseeing West Coast markets including Reno.

Smith moved to the U.S. from Australia five years ago, and received her MBA at Harvard Business School, according to an Oct. 27 press release.

She then moved to Northern California and worked in various roles for autonomous driving technology development company Waymo LLC. She joined Opendoor in February 2020.

“I was drawn to Opendoor because of the tangible impact we have for our customers at an important moment in their lives,” she said in a statement. “No one moves for fun — usually people move due to a life change and it can be a stressful process. It’s rewarding to help make this important moment in our customers’ lives simpler and easier.”

As General Manager, Smith is tasked with growing Opendoor’s operations and serve more customers, including building Opendoor’s trade partnerships with general contractors and other specialty trades.

Opendoor, the San Francisco-based digital platform for residential real estate transactions,
announced in June its entrance into the Reno market to do business.
