Trials set, others get prison Monday in court

The following people appeared in Carson City District Court on Monday before Judge Todd Russell:

• Frederick Paul Panke II, 27, pleaded not guilty to felony obstructing a police officer. He allegedly attempted to remove a sheriff's deputy's firearm during arrest May 19. A trial is set for July 20.

• James Wesley Jackson, 23, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of controlled substance. He will now serve a prison sentence of 12 to 48 months with 80 days credit for time served.

• Franklin Mathew Laidley, 26, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor malicious destruction of private property. He allegedly destroyed an apartment upon moving out. He will be sentenced Aug. 29.

• Jessica Balvina Negrete, 23, was given a suspended prison sentence of 12 to 32 months, and up to three years probation, on three counts of felony insufficient funds.

• Duffy Sean Thomas, 20, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor conspiracy to possess a controlled substance. He faces a year in jail when sentenced June 12, 2012.

• Gilberto Ortiz, 29, was sentenced to 36 to 96 months in prison on a charge of second-offense conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.

• Ryan Daniel Romero, 28, pleaded guilty to third-offense possession of controlled substance. He faces up to four years in prison when sentenced Aug. 15.
