Health inspections

Carson City Health Department’s food-service inspections for April 18. All scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations:

• Arco AM PM, 720 S. Carson St., scored 99 points. There is a hose leak inside the cabinet under the “Thirst Oasis” which is producing mold.

• Arco AM PM, 4190 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Carson Cigar Co., 318 N. Carson St., Suite 101, scored 97 points. The ice scoop is stored improperly against a liquor bottle, corrected on site. The shelving inside the reach-in is dirty with dried syrup spills and rust. Clean glassware is being stored partially into the hand sink basin.

• Carson City Car Wash, 1510 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• China East, 1810 Highway 50 E., scored 94 points. The ambient temperature of the reach-in opposite the grills needs to be reduced to keep the foods on top in the make-up unit at 40 degrees. Currently, few foods are being stored in the lower portion of the unit. One bag of frozen meat is stored in direct contact with grocery bag plastic. Found fresh produce stored below meats and seafood in the walk-in. The hood is still missing baffles. Dish racks are still being stored directly on the kitchen floor.

• Comstock Casino, 3680 Goni Road, scored 97 points. The dispensing areas of the soda machines both at the bar and in the customer self serve areas were soiled. The soda syrup storage area, hot water heater and dishwasher were soiled with dust.

• Economy Wash & Dry, 207 Hot springs Road, scored 100 points.

• The Firkin & Fox, Restaurant Bar, 310 S. Carson St., Suite 100, scored 97 points. Both ice scoop storage containers are dirty inside. The floors under the bar are not clean.

• The Firkin & Fox, Smoking Bar, 310 S. Carson St., Suite 100, scored 97 points. The ice scoop storage containers are not clean. The floor under the bar needs cleaning.

• Juan’s Mexican Grill, 3680 Goni Road, scored 99 points. Floors under appliances and cooking equipment were soiled with grease and food debris.

• Lifted Cafe, 2201 W. College Pkwy., scored 95 points. An uncovered staff drink container was found stored on top of an active-use cutting board. Staff were preparing ready-to-eat sandwiches and salads with bare hands.

• McDonalds, 3905 S. Carson St., scored 93 points. The chemical assisted low temperature dishwasher had a residual of less than 55 parts per million of chlorine at the end of the rinse cycle. Biofilm was noted in the ice machine. Garbage Dumpster lids were not kept closed at the time of inspection. The grease barrel lid was not kept closed at the time of inspection.

• MJ’s Sports Bar, 3679 S. Carson St., scored 98 points. Speed gun holsters are not clean.

• Raley’s, Deli Department, 3701 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Raley’s, Meat Department, 3701 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Raley’s, Hot Wok, 3701 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Raley’s, Produce Department, 3701 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Raley’s, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, 3701 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Raley’s, Grocery, 3701 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Wendy’s, 2555 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• The Spoke Bar and Grill, Bar/Lounge, 3198 N. Deer Run Road, scored 100 points.

• The Spoke Bar and Grill, Restaurant, 3198 N. Deer Run Road, scored 100 points.

• Subway, 100 W. Winnie Lane, scored 95 points. Soda dispenser nozzles and the underside area were sticky and soiled. There was no proof available that a certified food handler was present during the time of the inspection.
