Krch Realty Agent Mary Gurczynski and Reno-based Altmann Builders announced last month a new housing development in Fernley that will feature 50 energy-efficient homes ranging in cost from $330,000 to $370,000.

In a Sept. 21 press release, Gurczynski said she hopes the development, called Green Valley Ranch, will help “relieve some of the challenges buyers in the area face as hundreds of people flock to the area for employment.”

According to the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors, Fernley’s
median home price was $357,300 in August. That’s up 19.1% from August 2020, and up 49% from September 2018, when the median price was roughly $240,000.

“The most important thing about this development is that it’s affordable. It is extremely difficult to come across affordable, brand-new housing in today’s market,” Gurczynski said in a statement. “People have been drawn to this area for employment opportunities and this mass migration has had a negative effect on home buyers that we’re hoping to alleviate.”

Green Valley Ranch is located off Canal Drive and Emerald Way in Fernley, near Interstate 80. Go to livegreenvalleyranch.com to learn more.
