The Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge recently provided winter clothes to some students from C.C. Meneley Elementary School. Students were provided sweatshirts complete with the âMountain Lionsâ logo. Each child also received gloves, knit hats, and a winter coat and three books that were picked for them by their teachers. This effort was funded by Elks member donations and a Beacon Grant from the Elks National Foundation in Chicago. The grant also will provide funding shoes, socks and other clothing needed at the school. USDA Rural Development Nevada invested $188 million in rural communities in FY 2016, and $1.35 billion over the last eight years, for housing, business and community infrastructure improvements like the waste water treatment plant shown here. The City of Winnemucca used an $18 million loan and $2 million grant water from USDA’s Water and Environmental Program to fund the improvement project, which relocates and upgrades the town’s wastewater treatment plant.
